"I am currently working on a large MES engagement with (leading pharmaceutical manufacturer), and have been engaged with them on several MES assignments for the past 3 years. I am also the President of a medium-sized life sciences consulting firm, that has been serving several large pharmaceutical and biotech firms primarily on the West Coast since 2007. I have over 25 years experience working with (leading pharmaceutical manufacturer) over a large variety of engagements. Prior to establishing my own consulting firm, I was a Senior Manager for Ernst & Young/Cap Gemini for over 5 years in the Life Sciences practice. Charles was assigned to our project to fill the Global Product Manager (ad interim) role over the global drug substance program, and I have been working with Charles on the MES CORE project for the past several months. Upon arrival, Charles demonstrated senior-level communication skills, industry knowledge relative to manufacturing systems and processes, and a background in MES systems and implementations. Our MES CORE program was started just 2 years ago -- the program had enjoyed some limited successful roll-outs, and was gaining momentum to grow into a larger program. The project team had completed the design phase of the 3rd revision of the solution, and was approaching the final validation, delivery, and site roll-out phase of the project for a new greenfield site at the time Charles was on-boarded. Charles dedicated time for communicating with several of the key project stakeholders through periodic 1:1 meetings and small group working meetings, and assisted in facilitation for larger team meetings. Charles and I met 1:1 on a weekly basis to review progress and issues. The following are some examples and observations regarding his performance: In 1:1 sessions, Charles was able to listen and articulate an understanding of critical project issues, and proposed solutions and follow-up actions. In addition, Charles took extra time to understand my personal concerns and the current/future role and business objectives for our consulting group team members on our current engagement. I believe that this was extremely helpful in opening up communications between ground-level project issues and the program leaders at (leading pharmaceutical manufacturer). In project meetings, Charles presented his role clearly, and highlighted the role of the team in supporting the ability for our 'relatively small' engagement team to grow into a larger program and supported by both (leading consulting firm) and partner firms. Charles was able to gain the trust and respect of the existing leadership team as well as the leaders of several of the 3rd party consulting firms on the engagement team. Specifically, he has the ability to demonstrate respect for each individual, understand the value of the various partner firms and assigned roles, and articulate where (leading consulting firm) resources can help the team grow and scale the program over the next few years. Charles assisted in structuring a critical 5 day off-site working session involving our European SAP partners, and 3rd party vendors on our team and key direct (leading pharmaceutical company) resources. Timing was not optimal for this as we were in the middle of a critical testing phase of the project, but the need existed to get in a room with all key stakeholders to complete testing and system walk-throughs. Charles demonstrated the ability (and some bravery) primarily in the 'preparation' discussions and design for the working session - he was able to focus our team on structuring the exercise to maximize the value for (leading pharmaceutical company) and our engagement team and gain consensus (e.g. participation, goals/objectives, etc) for the session. Most importantly, he allowed the team to properly narrow the scope of the exercise and focus on critical deliverables for the current phase of the effort requiring heavy team collaboration. Charles was able to gain the trust of several seasoned (leading pharmaceutical company) 'blue-badge' leaders on the project team, and to bridge the gap on some difficult personnel issues -- again, he took the time to understand the background and contribution of these individuals, and assist in communicating the value of these individuals to our European colleagues to bring some difficult situations to at least a 'neutral' point in order to retain the participation of these individuals on the team . Charles is currently working with the team to bridge some communication gaps with the site, which is the 'client' for our current MES CORE release, and to assist with resolution of critical startup-related issues between Site, MES CORE team, and the European SAP team. In addition, Charles is assisting with coordination and facilitation with our European colleagues in structuring the 'next phases' of our overall MES CORE program (cross-platform, large initiative, etc.). Charles demonstrated excellent listening, presentation and communication skills in presentations to our overall MES CORE operating committee, and specifically focused on several critical risks and mitigations raised by our client site and core team members. In summary, we appreciate the support that Charles has provided to our team the past several months, and I believe our project team has been well represented through Charles to our leadership teams - this will have an impact on the longevity of the engagement for all participants. If you need more information, feel free to contact me directly." Mike - President, Life Sciences Consulting Company (2023) "Charles is a colleague of mine presently working at (Leading Pharmaceutical Manufacturer) as the Global Product Manager (ad interim). He's asked me to provide some feedback on observations of his performance in the context of (Leading Consulting Firm) Leadership essentials. I can attest to Charles unwavering commitment to not just demonstrate, but actually exemplify ALL the Leadership essential behaviors. I won't go into details on every behavior, but I'll pick out three and give you hard examples of Charles going beyond expectations in his role within our Project Team. Care deeply with all our people - from the moment I met Charles in my interview for my role, I knew unequivocally that he was a man of great character. His interview was not merely a question / answer dialog, but a genuine conversation to get to know me, my values, style and personality. Intermixed within our conversation were all the technical inquiries to assess my skills and talents required to fulfill the position, but Charles' approach was always to put me at ease. After accepting my role with (Leading Pharmaceutical Manufacturer), he's made every effort to ensure I am appropriately challenged, excited about my assignments and generously rewarded for my contributions to the team. I see Charles perform these actions with all team members demonstrating his unwavering commitment to inclusion and diversity. Always do the right thing - Charles is not afraid to stand up for what is right at all levels within the (Leading Pharmaceutical Manufacturer) organization. He fights for what he believes in, but always does so in a mutually respectful manner. One example recently was a challenge with management about a Go-Live of a new Software System at the site. This software is not only completely new to the site, but they have no other software similar to this application. The site requested that several Core Project Team members be onsite for the Software Launch to smooth the transition from current business processes to new ways of working. Initially management would only allow one representative from the Core Project Team to travel to the site with the expectation that they would be available to support the transition 12x7 for several weeks. This is very unrealistic, no one can work continuously for weeks at a time every single day at this intensity and stress level. Charles recognized this and lobbied to have four resources staggered over the launch window to spread the load. He convinced management that, yes, they were going to spend more money, but that they were buying insurance to ensure a smooth transition to the new software. Management eventually saw Charles' request as being genuinely needed and allocated the required funding for the additional Core Project Team members to be onsite for the launch. Act as a true partner - Charles always demonstrates that he wants himself and (Leading Consulting Firm) to be viewed as the partner of choice by (Leading Pharmaceutical Manufacturer) for all endeavors that (Leading Pharmaceutical Manufacturer) outsources. He seeks to bring value at all times through his actions. Knowing when to remain silent and let the Core Project Team work their way through internal issues and when necessary, step in and respectfully voice his thoughts and opinions to ensure progress is continuously made. I know that Charles' time on this assignment with (Leading Pharmaceutical Manufacturer) is slowly coming to a close, but I do wish that at a future date I have the pleasure of working closely with him again. His style, integrity and humility are truly exemplary and I will miss our conversations and coaching sessions. My only regret is that I have not had the opportunity to shake his hand, break read with him and congratulate him in person on a job well done! Should you need any additional feedback on Charles, do not hesitate to call me on my mobile number below." Steven - Core Platform MES Delivery Lead, Leading Pharmaceutical Company (2023) ''Charles was brought into the Core MES project when we certainly needed governance within our project. We did not have a Product Manager on the project for almost a year and we needed someone qualified to fill in this position. Charles has been filling the Global Product Manager role with full commitment and has done amazing work since he joined the team. He has been our single point of contact when we needed to communicate anything to program leadership. I have always admired the transparency when it comes to Charles working on things. There are so many burning topics that Charles has taken over and brought up to program leadership and came up with the solution/path forward for those. That progressively shows a leadership skill that deeply cares for people he works with and always advocates for the betterment of people and the project he is working with. I would also like to add that some of the suggestions that he has provided on crucial topics recently have been really useful to the project. Overall, Charles has been an asset to the team and to the project. There is nothing that I can think of that he needs to improve at this point but rather there are things that I have learned from him. I am thankful to Charles for his positive contribution to the project and to (Leading Pharmaceutical Manufacturer). '' Parth - Core Platform MES Business Analyst, Leading Pharmaceutical Company (2023) "Overall, Charles in his role as ad-interim Global Product Manager has done an excellent job as leader and advocate of the team by continuously exhibiting the following the behaviors: - Consistently bringing the team together and focusing on common goals. exemplified by (3) global workshops and the bringing together the S/4 HANA team with the MES team whose relationship has improved during this year - Continue to develop a team that cares for each other - Charles has been supportive and advocate for a positive team culture and actively defends and supports the team and individuals when there is unfairness witnessed - Charles has consistently advocated and in cases delivered people and process improvements to the program, and overseen the solidification of team structure with key resources - Holistically Charles during his time as stayed committed to doing the right thing for the team, individuals, the product, and from my prospective, the (Leading Pharmaceutical Manufacturer) even when the right thing in some cases is change." "Process Industries provided our high purity water system and it has provided continuous process water since 2001. I worked closely with Process Industries on the controls, remote HMI, and validation, and have been very satisfied with the quality of the work and we are highly satisfied with the quality of the water." "Process Industries has provided engineering services for a variety of projects since 2003. They provided engineering services ranging from the programming associated with the manufacturing and CIP systems, integration of new packaging equipment to existing packaging equipment, and design build packages for integration of a new steam generation system. Process Industries provided a design build package for a plant wide upgrade to chilled water and condensate. The existing system, antiquated and in disrepair, was necessary to keep the facility operational. Process Industries, as the design lead, utilized their knowledge of facility utility systems and the processing requirements to complete a design allowing minimal outage to the facility in a heavy demand season. Process Industries led the engineering team to provide a design build package to replace the process sterilization control system for the aseptic manufacturing process. This project required expertise in the manufacturing process, the mechanical function of the system, electrical design and controls integration to the balance of the processing system, and system and controls validation. The success of the undertaking was quickly evident by the increased system reliability resulting in improved line performance. Process Industries is the project manager over several contracted projects at the facility, and is often viewed as the go to resource for troubleshooting and manufacturing root cause analysis based on their demonstrated expertise. Throughout the projects Process Industries has consistently demonstrated the knowledge, integrity, and dependability necessary to meet the needs of our aseptic manufacturing facility." Kimberly - VP of Operations, Leading Food and Beverage Company (2021) "I’ve known the principal of Process Industries since 1995, when he was first hired to provide Senior Electrical Engineering at (Leading Water Treatment Company). He successfully completed several demanding, high profile projects, including an ultra-pure water treatment system for a new combined recycle power generation plant in Barranquilla, Colombia South America, a water treatment plant for new can manufacturing plants in Shanghai, China and Hanoi, Vietnam, a seawater RO municipal water treatment plant to provide drinking water for Shoaiba, Saudi Arabia, and a water treatment plant for an electrostatic paint booth in Pontiac, Michigan. These projects were delivered on time, under budget, and exceeded the expectations of management and the customer. Starting in 2003, I provided consulting process engineering to Process Industries on several key projects in which we provided the P&ID development, detailed piping design, tank design, contractor bid packages, electrical design drawings, panel fabrication, PLC programming, HMI programming, process validation, and system commissioning. My experience in working with Process Industries has been very positive. Process Industries has a commitment to excellence, marked by technical skill, good communications and professionalism." Steve - VP of Operations, Leading Pharmaceutical Company (2021) "I have known the principals for the past 20 years and have worked directly with them. Once when we were employed by (Leading Water Treatment Company) and again as a consulting engineer working for them on contract. In 1998, we worked together on a power generating station in Barranquilla, Colombia, SA. The equipment consisted of pretreatment water equipment and a demineralized water make up system for a 500 MW combined recycle under construction. We visited the jobsite on a number of occasions which was under tight security and brought the project to a successful completion. We were given recognition for completing a difficult project under adverse working conditions in the South American country. The second association was in 2003 as a consulting engineer working on contract for Process Industries for a 6 month assignment. I recommend the principals of Process Industries as a competent and reliable source for the design and fabrication of controls and process equipment, as well as providing the necessary mechanical and electrical commissioning support to bring a project to completion." James - Senior Mechanical Engineer, Leading Oil and Gas Company (2021) "My electrical project and work experiences have been outstanding and highly successful. Working as an Electrical Project Supervisor for (Leading Food and Beverage Company), I have worked very closely with Process Industries. I can assure you that you will be extremely happy with the integrity, professionalism, outstanding knowledge and technical skills that they bring to each and every project. Some of the electrical projects they have worked on have been the development of multiple automated batching and process control systems. Process Industries also developed and implemented a common networking system that provides all production programmable logic controllers to be linked together for communication and data collection. When each of these projects was “put on line” they performed and functioned flawlessly. Process Industries has worked on many other projects for (Leading Food and Beverage Company) and each was completed just as successfully and was done in a very timely manner for a very reasonable cost. In my opinion, the integrity, professionalism, and skill level at Process Industries is outstanding. I am looking forward to working with them on future projects." Gary - Electrical Supervisor, Leading Food and Beverage Company (2021) "As a Quality Manager of a refining facility, I had the opportunity to work with Process Industries during the implementation and continued support of a multitude of projects. The principals approach is to evaluate the projects and provide a high level of support with the utmost professionalism regardless of the size and scope of the project. During implementation I have witnessed his efforts in supplying whatever it takes to accomplish the task and go above and beyond in the interest of his customers. He exemplifies what customers desire from a contractor in the completion of a project—timely, accurate, and with excellent follow through. Additionally, the principal conducts his projects to provide seamless transition by supporting key efforts in the business. He strives to be a business partner by continuing to support projects beyond implementation. I have personally known him to respond “on call” and seek to resolve his customer’s business needs regardless of the hour." Lisa - Quality Manager, Leading Refining Company (2021) "Process Industries has completed several key projects, including the successful controls systems integration of our new aseptic plant. As a direct result, we were able to meet the demanding schedule for the national roll out of our newly developed aseptic product. Additional projects include our custom product batching, high speed canning lines comprised of Zilli-Bellini, Elmar, and Solbern fillers, Angelus seamers, FMC continuous cookers, empty and full can handling. Process Industries effectively integrated their programming with other vendors on our chosen Controllogix and FactoryTalk ViewSE platforms. Process Industries provided 24 hour coverage during the critical validation and commissioning phase of the project. In addition, Process Industries furnished control panel design, panel fabrication, and programming on our blanching systems and newly developed Heat and Serve product batching. On this project Process Industries provided the following services: Mechanical equipment layout, water processing design, control system programming for 3 high speed soup canning lines, control panel design, panel fabrication, various HMI programming services, support during plant start up and commissioning, and process validation." Terry - Director of Engineering, Leading Food and Beverage Company (2021) "I first met Process Industries in 2000 when I was employed as a mechanical engineer at (Leading Automotive Sensor Supplier). I worked in the automation group where we designed and built automatic assembly and test machines for our factories. We contacted Process Industries to do the electrical design and PLC programming on numerous machines over the years. From the first project I worked with Process Industries, I was very impressed with the technical proficiency and professionalism. The projects increased in complexity over the years as we gained confidence in Process Industries capabilities. On many projects, Process Industries would build the panels and operator control boxes in addition to the electrical design and PLC programming. Process Industries was always on schedule and was willing to work some late nights in order to complete the machines on time.In 2005, I changed jobs and worked as a mechanical engineer and project manager for (a custom machine design/build company) Shortly after starting there I was involved in a project that was falling behind schedule due to lack of resources in PLC code development and debug. I suggested to contract Process Industries because of my confidence in their abilities. Process Industries was able to pickup someone else’s code and complete a complex machine, producing 156/hr assembled and tested medical flowmeters.Process Industries professionalism, character and technical ability was evident on each and every project that I worked. I have no doubt that you will be satisfied with their work if you choose Process Industries for your upcoming projects. Feel free to contact me directly with any questions." Steve - New Product Development, Leading Aerospace and Automotive Sensor Company (2021) "My project experiences with Process Industries centered on a soup plant construction project. In this project Process Industries provided the following services: Mechanical equipment layout, water processing design, control system programming for 3 high speed soup canning lines, control panel design, panel fabrication, various HMI programming services, support during plant start up and commissioning, and process validation. Process Industries successfully performed this work on time and within budget. Process Industries presented a high degree of integrity, professionalism, and technical proficiency." James - Director of Operations, Leading Food and Beverage Company (2021) "I’ve known the principal since 1988, when he was first hired as a Corporate Electrical Engineer with (Leading Food and Beverage Company). As Production Supervisor/QA Manager, we worked side by side on the installation of a new aseptic production facility. He played a leading role in the control systems integration leading to a successful start up and sustainability. In addition to the technical expertise, he assisted in training facility employees on troubleshooting, maintenance and operation of the systems vital to aseptic processing and packaging. In over 17 years of aseptic production, Process Industries has been instrumental in upgrading and/or automating other components of the facility to ensure continuous improvement. Process Industries also provided tools and technology key to the data collection required for ISO 9000 certification in 2007. The commitment to ensure prompt and professional service is unsurpassed. Process Industries remains simply a phone call away at any time for support and/or troubleshooting whenever needed. Process Industries is committed to continuous improvement through personal character, innovation, technical proficiency and professionalism." Jayne - Quality Manager, Leading Food and Beverage Company (2020) "I've known the principal of Process Industries since 2000, when I hired him to perform controls engineering work at my plant for (Leading Food and Beverage Company). Since 2000, I've used Process Industries to complete several automation projects of various size and scope. Process Industries has always been able to adapt to the needs of the project and can be counted on to deliver results. I hired the principal to provide aseptic design services at an egg processing plant where I was working in the capacity as Maintenance Manager. The principal was called in because of his aseptic processing expertise and knowledge of advanced Siemens programming. His knowledge was only second to the OEM on the German filling machine. He programmed the changes needed to reduce downtime and reduce waste. In addition, he worked well with personnel at all levels of the production facility."
